How HI Friends supports the local community
We support the wellbeing of the local community through support services, activities and events. Our Wellbeing Team help the young, the elderly and those who are on life’s journey somewhere in between. The Team provides non-clinical services for people living with dementia and can also be there to support during end of life.
Examples of our provision include:
Mental health & wellbeing
HI Friends also has a dedicated Mental Wellbeing Team who provide services and initiatives to support mental wellbeing for all ages of the local community. If you are in need of someone to talk to in confidence to help support your mental wellbeing, please call Sophie, on: 07922 083991 or Jeremy at: Jeremy@hifriends.org.uk
Take a look below at how HI Friends might be able to help you or members of your family or how you could get involved.

Sport, fitness & community events

Support for older people, those with dementia & those with memory loss
Activities and services to help our elderly get the most out of life and avoid becoming isolated, such as fun-packed Lunch Club days, including transportation.
“I want to thank your wonderful team for being so fantastically supportive and caring towards me and my mum. HI Friends is a unique organisation and was one of the reasons I wanted my Mum to live in Histon. You have all been amazing and I can’t thank you enough!”

Using the community minibus & Trishaw
Find out how the minibus and trishaw run by HI Friends, can be used to help older people who would otherwise be unable to get around, and also how the minibus can be hired out by local groups and organisations.

Where our funding comes from & how you can help
We work hard to sustain our community services but must continually raise funds to cover costs. The Parish Council supports around 40% of our wellbeing team, with the rest coming from grants, local sponsorships, event income, and generous individual donations. These contributions make a big difference in what we can offer the community.

We are delighted that HI Friends is part of the Cambridgeshire Community lottery, and hope that this will be a really fun way to raise money amongst the community.
By taking part, 50 pence in every £1 spent goes to HI Friends and prizes can be up to £25,000!
